The Entertainment Theatre

The history of the Entertainment Theatre

The beginning of the Entertainment Theatre dates back to the late '70s, when the idea of the revue-type Music Hall was born. Broadway revues and recitals of great stars of the music world were supposed to attract the audience of Chorzów, eager to experience a new form of entertainment. The facility was converted into a National Entertainment Theatre in 1985

The location of the Entertainment Theatre

The theatre was located in a very decorative building of the former Hotel Graf Reden. The exclusive hotel rooms have, in fact, changed their destiny several times. In the interwar period, the art of the German Theatre was exhibited there. In turn, after the end of the World War II, the building was renamed to the House of Culture of Steelworks Kosciuszko, where sports events, games, card games, boxing matches were held before. Also, an old brasserie operated here.

While creating the theatre, the building was re-developed and the stage for entertainment shows was built, making the building the real tailor-made musical theater. Another renovation was completed in 2007, resulting in the modernized interior of the theater which impresses with its design and has won numerous awards and nominations in architecture contests.

An important entertainment institution in the Silesian region

Currently, the theatre is a dynamic institution that can permanently boast four teams of artists - those of actors, vocal, ballet and orchestra. The Entertainment Theatre in Chorzow is, as its name implies, the ideal place for the fans of shows and entertainment. On a placard of the Entertainment Theatre one will find the staging of the plays straight from Broadway. Such shows as 'Fiddler on the Roof' and 'Jesus Christ Superstar' enjoy great popularity
